NOTICE OF EXAMINATION FOR POLICE OFFICER
A competitive written civil service examination for the position of police officer will be held on Monday July 18, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Joe Hughes Memorial Hall, 1112 E. 7th Street, Eddystone. The examination will only be given to persons who submit a timely application.
Applications are available during business hours at the Municipal Building, 1300 E. 12th St., Eddystone Pa. Applications must be returned in person, fully completed, with photographic identification and a valid driver’s license, to the Municipal Building by Friday, July 1, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. The application processing fee is $50.00.
The applicant must:
(1) be a citizen of the United States;
(2) be at least 21 years of age at the date of filing the application;
(3) be a high school graduate or equivalent;
(4) have completed Act 120 police officer training and have a valid Act 120 certificate;
(5) be physically, mentally and psychologically fit to perform the duties of a police officer;
(6) be of good moral character;
(7) be licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to operate a motor vehicle;
(8) have one (1) year or 1,000 hours municipal, state, or military police experience;
(9) pass a drug and alcohol screening;
(10) not habitually use intoxicating liquors;
(11) not have been found guilty of any misdemeanor or felony;
(12) reside within ten (10) miles of the borough of Eddystone, and within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania;
(13) pass a written examination;
(14) pass a physical agility test;
(15) pass an oral examination;
(16) pass a background check;
(17) pass a psychological examination;
(18) pass a medical examination;
(19) if appointed, serve a twelve-month probationary period.
