Eddystone is proud to stand alongside our neighboring municipalities for a good cause!
Councilman Rob Yannuzzi and Councilman Bill Stewart joined Rep. David M Delloso and Collingdale Mayor Felecia Coffee as part of a regional effort to provide supplies to residents of Texas affected by the recent storms. The project, organized by Collingdale Mayor Coffee, included the delivery of a pallet of water graciously donated by the Eddystone Walmart.
The group all worked together to help prepare the collected water for transportation to Texas. Thank you to all who assisted in this effort!

Delaware County and the Department of Human Services, in conjunction with Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Senator Tim Kearney, Senator John Kane, Senator Amanda Cappelletti, State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara and State Rep. Chris Quinn, will be holding a contactless drive-thru food drive collection on Saturday, March 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Broomall Fire Company.
In addition, this is the first food drive in which we are specifically requesting specialized ethnic foods to assist Upper Darby pantries. Suggested ethnic foods include dry beans (black, pinto, kidney), flour (gram, semolina (sooji), whole wheat, maseca (tortilla flour), fufu, canned fish (sardines, tuna) and canned corn, okra, spinach, and meats.
Food insecurity impacts the Delaware County community, and the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened access to food. The County has significantly expanded its efforts to address food scarcity beyond the traditional annual holiday food drive held each December.
Since April of 2020, Delaware County has conducted or helped coordinate 13 food drives, including multiple holiday food drives held in December, and has worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, the Department of Emergency Services, and Pennsylvania National Guard to coordinate the collection and distribution of hundreds of thousands of meals and countless food items, personal hygiene products, and pet food.
Broomall Fire Company Food Drive March 6 | 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 1 N. Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008

Delaware County will continue conducting public drive-thru COVID-19 testing the week of February 1, 2021 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.
Testing will be available for insured and uninsured individuals 12 years of age or older who live or work in Delaware County and have COVID-19 symptoms, were exposed to COVID-19, or are considered critical/essential workers.
If you have health insurance, please bring your insurance card to the test site. However, there are no out-of-pocket costs or co-pays for COVID-19 testing. Masks or face coverings must be worn.
Delaware County is administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon and at the Aston Community Center. Vaccination is by appointment only.
People who live or work in Delaware County can pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine by completing a form found on the Chester County Health Department’s COVID-19 website. Vaccines are free of charge and for people age 16 and older who live or work in Delaware County. The form can be found here: https://chesco.seamlessdocs.com/f/delcovac
Completion of the form registers a person’s interest in receiving the vaccine, and the information provided helps the Chester County Health Department to place each individual into the Phase 1A, 1B, 1C, and Phase 2 categories.
All individuals 65 and older, and individuals ages 16-64 with certain medical conditions, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that increase the risk of severe illness from the virus, are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination under Phase 1A. A breakdown of the phases can be found here: https://chesco.org/4822/COVID19Vaccine
Delaware County has opened a COVID-19 Call Center to answer COVID-19 related questions including information on vaccines and testing. The COVID-19 Call Center will be open Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. In addition to responding to phone calls, the Center will also respond to emails.
Residents are reminded to please be patient as vaccine remains very limited. Vaccine supply has not increased for Pennsylvania. The state is still receiving the same limited supply as it was in the beginning of January. In addition, almost half of the vaccines received is being allocated for long-term care facilities which have experienced the largest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths.
The Chester County Health Department is processing the impact of the recent changes made by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, moving those over the age of 65 and those 16-64 with certain medical conditions into Phase 1A. This change adds over 94,000 eligible people age 65 and older and adds approximately 80,000 people age 16-64 with certain medical conditions to Phase 1A. Those in Phase 1A account for 40% of the population.
On Thursday, Janauary 14, Delaware County issued a press release to provide updates on the COVID-19 vaccination program rollout. Some key points in the release include:
The Chester County Health Department, as well as many other vaccine providers, continue to vaccinate individuals in Phase 1A. The Chester County Health Department is aware of the recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services about a shift in populations included in Phase 1B, and all vaccine doses being approved for distribution to states. The Health Department is assessing the impact of this announcement on its current approach for vaccinations and transition from Phase 1A to 1B. Delaware County and the Chester County Health Department are eager to move to Phase 1B as quickly as possible, however we must be sure we can do so without being limited by our vaccine supply.
Delaware County residents are urged to complete an interest survey for the COVID-19 vaccine. This survey is the best process for residents to register.
Unaffiliated healthcare providers should also check with local health systems for information on the vaccine becoming available at those locations as spots open up in their health system.
