Citizen Corps Volunteers

Citizen Corps of Delaware County Seeks Volunteers
to Support COVID-19 Vaccinations

Next Online Orientation Thursday, January 14

The Citizen Corps of Delaware County (CCDC) is planning to significantly expand its volunteer base and is currently recruiting and training to meet this critical goal.  An additional 1,000 volunteers are needed to support the County’s ongoing COVID-19 vaccination efforts. While Delaware County has already begun vaccinations for the segment of the population classified as Phase 1A (which includes healthcare workers, EMS workers, medical examiners, funeral staff, and residents and staff of long-term care facilities), the effort to vaccinate all residents of the county over the next several months will require significantly greater resources.

Volunteers are required to participate in a free online orientation. Orientations are held each month. The next orientation will be held on Thursday, January 14, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.

Residents who are interested can register online at www.delcocitizencorps.com. Additional information, including specific dates and times of future orientations, can be found on the website.

Update on COVID-19 Vaccinations in Delaware County

Delaware County is currently administering COVID-19 vaccinations to Delaware County residents in the priority Phase 1A group. This group includes healthcare workers, EMS workers, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, and medical examiner and funeral staff.

Due to the limited supply of the vaccine, healthcare workers, EMS staff, long-term care facilities, and medical examiner and funeral staff are the priority for vaccination distribution. Delaware County is committed to ensuring a safe and timely distribution of the COVID-19 vaccination and continues to work with the County’s hospitals and the Chester County Health Department to administer the vaccine as quickly as possible. As of Jan. 4, 4,435 COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the county, which is a similar rate compared to neighboring counties.

The Chester County Health Department has updated its home page and vaccine webpage to include information and links for residents to learn more about the vaccine phases and to indicate interest in receiving a vaccine:
