Delaware County has confirmed several cases of the West Nile Virus through out the area and has further indicated that the mosquito population in the country has hit all time highs. The CDC has also confirmed that an infected mosquito has been discovered in the Borough of Ridley Park and tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The Ridley Park Borough Public Works Department will be spraying for mosquitoes throughout the Eddystone Borough, starting on the second week in May. The spraying will be conducted each Wednesday, during the evening hours of 8:00 pm until 12 am. The rain date will be set for the following day to maximize our efforts in controlling the wide spread mosquito population.
The licensed applicator will also adjust the schedule accordingly due to other conditions or other circumstances. The Borough will follow this schedule until the last week of October. These applications are being performed by a Licensed Pesticide Spray Applicator and every effort will be made to ensure public safety.
Questions or concerns should be directed to William Christie at the Ridley Park Borough Hall: 610-532-1200.

Delaware County is now offering walk-in and drive-up vaccinations at all County-operated, sponsored, and partnered vaccination sites. These sites include the Aston Community Center (Moderna), the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon (Moderna), the Keystone First Wellness Center in Chester (Moderna), Mercy Fitzgerald in Darby (Moderna), Springfield Hospital (Pfizer), Penn Medicine Radnor (Pfizer), Delaware County Community College (Johnson & Johnson) and this Sunday’s community vaccination clinic at Ridley High School (Johnson & Johnson). Our community “Pop-Up” vaccine sites will typically offer the walk-in or drive-up option unless otherwise stated.
Vaccinations are free at all County sites and are available for adults ages 16 and above (for Pfizer) and 18 and above (for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson). Health insurance and ID is not required. Appointments for second doses will be made at the time of the first dose.
Vaccination appointments are now easily available most days of the week. The consistent supply of vaccines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health has significantly increased vaccine availability—a major improvement over just a few weeks ago when vaccine supply was inconsistent and vaccination appointments were scheduled as quickly as they were made available.
Appointments are still recommended. Scheduled appointments make planning easier and help ensure that residents get their vaccination quickly and efficiently, reducing the potential for on-site delays that may occur at peak hours.
To schedule a vaccination at a Delaware County site and check vaccine site hours, residents can visit the COVID-19 website at delcopa.gov/vax, or contact our COVID-19 Call Center by phone at (484) 276-2100 or by email at covid19resources@co.delaware.pa.us, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Residents can also contact the Call Center to request an on-site at-home vaccination for themselves, a homebound loved one, or friend as part of the Delaware County Homebound COVID-19 Vaccination Program. Information needed includes the name of the person to be vaccinated, a phone number, zip code, and an email if applicable.
Delaware County is now providing second dose shots of Moderna and Pfizer vaccine to Delaware County residents who received their first dose at a non-County vaccine site but are unable to keep to keep their second dose appointment at that site, or have already missed their scheduled second shot. To schedule a second shot, residents should contact the Call Center to ensure that the appropriate vaccine and timeframe is observed.

The DELCO Emergency Rental Assistance (DELCO ERA) grant program helps renters who suffered disruption and loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic with assistance with rent and utilities. The U.S. Treasury and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania allocated $37.2 million to fund DELCO ERA. The County engaged Capital Access, Inc, a grants management firm based in the Delaware Valley, to assist with program management. All funds must be expended by end of 2021.
How does the program work?
DELCO ERA will pay up to 12 months for past due rent and your largest past-due utility bill. For verified Priority 1 applications, up to three (3) months of future rent and utility may be paid totaling up to 15 months of assistance. Past due rent can go as far back as April 1, 2020. DELCO ERA does not pay for deposits.
No more than one (1) application per household.
Grant funds are paid directly to your landlord/property manager and utility on your behalf.
Funds will be distributed on a “first come, first qualified and approved” basis until program funds are depleted.
Eligible applicants must earn 80% or less of area median income (AMI) for household size. (See below)
Priority 1 for processing will be given to households where at least one of the following is true:
Total household income no greater than 50% of Area Median Income;
At least 1 person unemployed who has an active claim with the Office of Unemployment Compensation for at least the 90 days prior to the date of Registration with this Program;
