Eddystone Borough Seeks Applicants for Borough Secretary Position

Eddystone Borough is seeking a qualified, organized, and dependable individual to serve as
Borough Secretary. Incorporated in 1888, Eddystone is a historic Delaware County community
with deep roots in industry and manufacturing and a strong tradition of local government a
community service.

The Borough Secretary performs a wide range of administrative and municipal functions in
support of Borough Council, the Borough Manager, and the day-to-day operations of the
Borough. The position requires an individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented,
responsive, and comfortable interacting with elected officials, residents, Borough professionals,
governmental agencies, and members of the public.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing Borough Council meeting agendas, packets, notices, and related materials;
  • Attending Borough Council meetings and preparing and maintaining official meeting minutes;
  • Maintaining Borough ordinances, resolutions, meeting records, official correspondence, and other municipal records;
  • Coordinating required public notices, advertisements, and filings;
  • Receiving, tracking, coordinating, and assisting with responses to requests submitted under Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law;
  • Maintaining records necessary to ensure timely and accurate responses to Right-to-Know requests and coordinating with the Borough Manager, Solicitor, departments, and other Borough personnel as necessary;
  • Preparing correspondence and responding to inquiries from residents, elected officials, governmental agencies, and other members of the public;
  • Assisting with the preparation, execution, filing, and maintenance of official Borough documents;
  • Providing administrative support to Borough Council and the Borough Manager; and
  • Performing other administrative and municipal duties as assigned.

The successful candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills,
strong organizational skills and attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize
multiple assignments and meet statutory and administrative deadlines. Candidates should also be
comfortable handling confidential and sensitive matters and working independently in a
municipal office environment.

Prior experience in municipal government, local government administration, records
administration, or a comparable administrative position is preferred. Familiarity with
Pennsylvania municipal government, the Pennsylvania Borough Code, Sunshine Act, Right-to-
Know Law, and municipal records requirements is highly desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft
Office and other commonly used office technology is required.


This is a full time position. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
